This afternoon we seemed to hit pay dirt. All day yesterday we were waiting HOURS to pee (on and off the potty) after she had already started peepee dancing. Finally, today when I was on the phone she ran to the potty and peed without any delay.
I should probably mention that the current problem is that I went a bit overboard with the rewards: a sticker, an M&M, AND an episode of her new Dora the Explorer DVD.
Somewhere around 2:00pm, she realized she could put off napping indefinitely if she managed to squeeze out a little pee after each episode. I am afraid to stall the progress by weaning her off Dora so soon after she learned to actually get the pee to come out on demand(she is on her 5th or 6th episode today…I know, I know! Bad mom!)
I think I will let her continue watching 1,000 Doras today and then tomorrow institute a Dora for poop only program (we haven’t had any poops in the potty yet).

In other less interesting news, the trolls who were bothering me last week (you can read about it here and here ) keep coming back around to read my blog. I know who said what and the kind of smack they were talking on that particular forum because someone emailed me and loaned me their log-in info (Thanks-you know who you are!). All I will say to that is a big old "bite me!"
Anyway, just in case there is any question left in your minds, this is NOT a froofy adoption blog. I am not here to give you support and make you all feel good. This blog is for ME and MY FAMILY. The people who read it are my guests and for the most part they add value to my blogging.
If you don’t get my sense of humor, if you don’t like my parenting choices, if you don’t LIKE ME, I don’t give a damn. Just feel free to move along. I don’t really care what you think about me and my life.
In case you are wondering though, I DO monitor my stats. It is amazing what a person can find out with only an IP address. The blogging world and the online adoption world is a very VERY small place. There is a completely ridiculous number of people reading this blog right now and bloggers like to gossip. If you are going to read here and then go talk smack about me, odds are good I am going to hear about it sooner or later.
Also, if you happen to live my local area is to drop me a quick email and let me know you are reading. You don’t want to stumble across a post that has me bashing your bad hair or funny-looking kids at the Asian festival do you?
Sorry, love, but I have to laugh at the Dora bribery. We kept it *very* simple: pee in potty, get one sticker. Poop in potty, get two. Both accompanied by mamasan dancing around and going “Yay, Dotter, you peed! Way to go, Dotter!” Which led, of course, to the unfortunate occurrence of the OmegaDotter dancing around and going, “Yay, Mommy, you peed! Way to go, Mommy!” when in the public restroom with Mommy at the local mall. Certain muffled snorts were heard from other stalls at times…
Good luck with OPT!
As for the trolls. Don’t let ‘em get you down. Some of them may have come to see what the fuss was all about, and stayed because they like your stuff. Or maybe I’m naive…but I do have a few regulars now who followed me over from a comment or two on Grouchy Ladybug.
Sounds like the P.T. is coming along quite well — my son still does NOT pee by himself (we started in JULY. . . ). I don’t know if it’s a boy thing or what. . my daughter trained in a matter of days. So who knows!
And so sorry about the trolls. . . frankly the trollsters have nothing better to do. Ban ‘em with their ISP addresses.
I only very recently started reading your blog and your post about your dossier was one of the first I read. Personally, I thought it was hilarious and I definitely wanted to read more.
I just started reading your blog to see what all the fuss was about because I missed it all over on The Forum. Keep writing girl, you’re great!
Oh hell, you know you’ve made it when you’ve got trolls!
i am so sorry there are so many dumb a$$ people out there. I personally thought that your dossier picture post was perfect. You said just what I wanted to for a while!

We did the 1 M&M for pee, 3 for poop and when she did the pee dance, we plopped the potty right in the living room so she could pee while watching tv. So if you are evil, just imagine what I AM!
And tell the trolls to bite my left tit. Sheesh get over yourselves people!
Ugh – Sorry the Holy Rollers are on a crusade against you. I thought your post was really good.
Those trolls are just jealous of you and how well you write.
I don’t understand why people that don’t like what they see keep on reading your blog…
I personally think you are a great writer, your posts are funny and you are a very cool mom and great person.
Forget about the envy… that is all it is.
Trolls suck and I’m sorry that you have them, but if they’re what inspired the third paragraph in the second section of this post, then I’m not *that* sorry. It’s brilliant and just what I needed to see, so thank you.
I was sad when the dossier photo post went away. I re-read it a million times and laughed out loud at the if-we-use-this-one-we’ll-get-a-blind-child comment every time. Shame on the trolls for being so judgmental. I’ve heard that Jesus doesn’t like that.
M&Ms are so commonly used for potty training that you’d think they’d take advantage of that in their marketing. Maybe a toddler-shaped dispenser that poops out M&Ms that read, “Yay! You pooped!” on one side (and, of course, an M on the other side).
Keep up the good work. I love your blog!
I’m a total lurker, originally from Columbus, 21 weeks pregnant with a Chinese/American baby. I’ve learned a ton of crap about things to think about when it comes to parenting this kid from reading your site and was enthralled until I saw the penis pic. Then I peed my pants just a little. Keep up the good work and screw the trolls.
i’ve been meaning to tell you that you consistently challenge me and force me to consider what conscious or unconscious prejudices i may still be holding on to. i think your writing is excellent and refreshing, as well as funny.
so thank you, keep it. up.
