The Really Good Day.

So today was crazy.

First, Mr. A called around 11:00 a.m. to tell me that his annual review went well.  Really well.  So well he got a raise that pretty much replaced most of the income we lost when I quit my job.  Needless to say, we are thrilled.

Then, around 12:30 I called my agency and found out that we are getting our referral tomorrow.  The conversation I had with the receptionist went something like this:

Me:  Hi! I was just wondering if you were expecting referrals to arrive today?

Her:  Yes! Actually they are already here!

Me: Oh! Do you know which dates are included?

Her: We received referrals for (dates) but not Nov. 29th.

Me: Oh. Did you get any expedited referrals?

Her: Only one.

Me: Oh.  Do you know what the date was?

Her: Early march.

Me (squeek):  How early?

Her: March 15th.

Me: OH MY GOD. THAT IS MY LID!  Can you ask someone if it is us? I have to know if it is us!!!!!  PLEASE?????

Her: If that is your LID, it is you. That was the only expedited referrals logged in on that date.

Me (Starting to Cry and shake uncontrollably): THAT IS US! THAT IS US!

Her: Uh, congratulations?

Click as I hung up the phone and ran around the house flapping my hands in a full on freak out for the next four hours.

Later,I started to question whether it could really be true and started to call my agency about 3 different times to get confirmation.  Not surprisingly, all the match coordinators were not answering their phones, so I didn’t talk to anyone because I didn’t want to be the freak on the voicemail.  Then, tonight I recieved my preplacement packet and saw that the agency mentions our specific LID on their website.

I am 99.9% confident we are getting a call tomorrow.

Now, Mr. A and I have kicked back with a bottle of champagne.

It was a really good day.  I can’t wait for tomorrow.

Just to quickly answer some questions I have been getting:

I will post our referral information tomorrow.  Hopefully I will have a photo that will be left up for a short time. Probably less than 24 hours.

I will not be posting the baby’s name, orphanage, city, or province.   Sorry, but I am not eager for 10,000 internet wackjobs to start crawling out of the woodwork claiming our baby is their baby’s sibling or identical twin.  Besides, until the baby is legally adopted by us, I don’t want to take anything for granted or violate the baby’s privacy.

Also,  we don’t know what we will name the baby yet.  We won’t decide until we hear the Chinese name and have time to talk about it and have a very involved rock-paper-scissors tournament to see what the final name will be.

So.  Onward and upward.
