We went to walmart. We spent so much money a group of people congregated around us and gasped when they saw how much we spent. It was horribly embarrassing. We didn’t buy such a huge number of big things, but many small cheap things which added up including: 2 big packs of diapers, maybe 10 items of children’s clothing plus several warm jackets, probably 30 chinese dvds and movies, 20 packs of flashcards and word books, contact solution, food, coke, a suitcase etc. It all added up to a huge spectacle. We may actually be the ugly Americans.
I also forgot to mention that M is a rock star here. When people realize she is half Chinese, they stare and stare. Little kids come up in her face and yell “hello!” Adults get in her face and tell her she is “piaoliang” (pretty). They touch her and talk and talk to her. It really freaks M out. I think she is getting tired of China and all the attention. She also has a cough. My mom (the pharmacist) suggested we start her on her antibiotics to prevent it from getting much worse, so we did.
M made friends with another little girl named Ying Ying today. They rode many many rides at the little amusement park in the big park. Apparently YingYing was very pushy and didn’t have the good manners that Rose had.
Today our travel group arrived. There are two other girls who are 3 and 4, as well as a big girl who is 8. M was thrilled to play with the girls, though she was very tired from her big day.
We go to get the baby at 3:30 tomorrow, so there may not be a post right when you wake up. You may have to be patient for us to get settled. We will post when we can.

ok, will try to be patient. But it’s hard! Sleep well tonight.
Why how enormously selfish not to think of us in the internet before your new baby and family! Hmph! But (big put upon sigh) I’ll try to be patient.
Noah asked if you guys were coming back or if you would live there. Madison said, “I hope M is coming back because China is too far for me to go.” I told her you’d be back.
We’re all thinking of you over here!!!
I love the visual of you guys buying out WalMart. Ha!
It will be VERY DIFFICULT to be patient tomorrow, but I will try. [*martyred sigh*]
I’m glad M is doing so well, too.
You went to WALMART (dang, we have to get Target there!)… you are in China and you went to WALMART – globalization really goes too far… on the other hand, I bet it’s nice to see familiar things, especially when you have to do power shopping…
I keep fingers crossed for tomorrow — you’re in my thoughts!
Good luck!
i’m excited for you guys! i will happily refresh all day long tomorrow (and the next day if need be), waiting for news.
So close, so close! I hope it goes well for you all. Whatever happens, she’ll be with you at last. Amazing, just amazing. Have a wonderful day.
So how was Chinese Wal-Mart anyway?
I can’t believe that the next time I check your blog, you’ll have your new baby! Thanks for keeping the updates coming. Best to you, Mr.A and sweet M.
well, I will try to be patient, but will still be obsessively refreshing tomorrow morning (perhaps even later tonight in the hopes that you want to post one more time as only a mama to one).
You are finally so close to meeting The Baby! I am glad you obviously have picked up some of my habits and did the obsessive shopping trip.
Give lots of kisses to M tonight and tell her Cami sympathizes with what she will have to deal with starting tomorrow.
Lots of love, hugs and hopes for a wonderful Baby Day!
Wow – the moment has almost come.
So very excited for you! Less than 12 hours away! Or is it 14 hours? I was JUST THERE, why can I not remember how the time difference works?
Regardless, lots of well wishes are speeding from us to you on this very momentous day.
oh my gosh…i’m so excited! I hope Baby Day goes well and that you get some great pics of a day that will forever be an important day in your family’s history. George and I are thinking of you guys and appreciate the updates, allowing us to share in this awesome experience of yours! sending love…
Tick tick tick tick……..
Counting down. I’m very excited for you. We’ll do our very best to be patient. Have an amazing time getting settled.
You, my friend, are going to be the first thing I think about when I wake up in the morning. I am so happy and excited for you to finally be where you are! I’ll try to be patient, but I’m going to check your blog every other minute for an update. xxxxx0x0
Omg! Today is The Day! We’ve been thinking of you and will continue to send many many good wishes your way.
