Regarding Failure

Despite the “failure” title to that post, I should let you all know that I am not angsting over the choice to stop the breastfeeding attempt.

I am not someone who gets off on self-flagellation when my parenting is not meeting the ideal.  I tried gave it the old college try, it didn’t work out, now we are moving on.
I am 100% confident that it is the right choice for us to make.  No drama, no angst.

Thanks for all your kind words!

This is a child centred approach and obviously reflects concern for her needs, which is all good. I don’t know a whole lot about adoption and attachment but it seems to me you are doing what’s right for your child, and by extension what’s right for you. You are modeling boundaries for her and for our daughter. I think it was great you tried, and I think it was great when you realized that there was something else that needed to be done to meet her needs. Thanks for sharing that part of your experience. Whoops that should be “modeling boundaries for her and your daughter.” And I should clarify, by boundaries I also include expectations. Sorry for any confusion. Pink (who probably has a little too much cold medicine in her to be writing coherently)

  • That is such a healthy approach (not to self flagellate). I admire that in a parent, because it really seems to be unusual. Most of us will angst and guilt trip ourselves over every little thing til the cows come home. So good for you! Yay!

  • No doubt.

I mean really–there shouldn’t be any question of having to put her down against her will to pump (in addition to your lack of interest in self-flagellation which I heartily commend). Doing so would fly in the face of all common sense. After all, it’s bonding you’re after, not breast milk, per se.

    Go you!

  • Excellent idea! Glad to hear that you are not agonizing over this….

Go give L thos hugs and snuggles she needs

  • Glad to hear it. Please remind me of it in the future if I need it.

Those photos are amazing. The one of all the roofs is my new desktop background.
