Last year when we were visiting the town where L’s orphanage was located the first week of Spring Festival, we saw a group that was walking around town performing a lion dance. We saw them several different times, but it was always when we were driving to one location or another.
Then, just after we finished lunch, we heard their drums. The were only about a half a block away. I thought it would be appropriate to share this today, since it is Chinese New Year’s eve and also the week of pictures (and videos).
That was awesome, thanks.
And I think I need one of those pink track suits.
NIce video, thanks for sharing.
That was really fun to watch. I liked seeing you feed the lion the hong bao, and then the women from the troupe coming over to say “thank you!” Something about that whole experience of cross-cultural exchange going on, that reminded me so much of different experiences on both of our trips.
Thanks for sharing a great video!
I always wondered if the lion dances in Chinatown were really authentic. I see that they really are!
