Mr. Fancypants

Mr. A got a call and he has managed to score a first round interview with one of the three places he applied.

I am not at all surprised he got an interview, but we assumed he would be most likely to get called by the D.C. office.  There are many, many more lawyers at the D.C. office, there are more available positions and Mr. A has connections with the Big Boss there.  After we researched and narrowed down the cities we would be willing to try, D.C. quickly became the focus of most of our researching energy. (Not because we like it -we don’t – but because D.C. had numbers in its’ favor).

But the interview call Mr. A received was not for D.C., it is in Chicago.

Even though he applied there, Chicago was not on my radar at all.  This was a big, big surprise.  It isn’t upsetting, because it would be convenient to visit our families, it is Midwestern-ish, and we know some people there.    On the other hand, I don’t exactly love Chicago either.

The interview is only a first round interview, so they are probably talking to a number of candidates.  Maybe Mr. Fancypants won’t get this job.

Besides researching neighborhoods, schools and rental costs, I am trying not to think about it very much.  What will be, will be.

(And of course, the interview means I have to end my four day hiatus and get back on the house repair wagon.)
