Home Work: Both bathtubs refinished, no more pink and blue tile, landscaping mostly done, need mulch.
House: Really liking the house now that it is fixed up. Wishing we had done this a long time ago.
Friends: New babies, yay! Dead blogs, boo hiss. Real life visits, need to happen more often. Thinking about how I can be a better friend.
Moving to Chicago: Not thinking about it.
Schools: M’s kindergarten visit. Felt good about the school. Lots of good resources and programs. All day kindergarten yay! M loved it. L was a trooper and charmed all the other parents. Bad: we already knew all the other Asian and kids of color at the orientation. Hope there are more.

i need to stop by and see the bathrooms. i definitely want someone to reglaze our tub. now that we’ve painted and the backsplash on the kitchen is almost done, i’m wondering why we put up with things as is for as long as we have (7 years).
i’m glad to see you’re not thinking bout the interview or moving.
all day kindergarden ROCKS. i’m glad she got in!
So jealous that you have the option of all day Kindergarten but happy for you and M. She’ll love it.
we’re visiting Chicago mother’s day weekend. Maybe you need to come on a fact finding mission. two birds, one stone thing.
Why are those blogs dead, anyway? Do these people not understand that I require free reading material during boring conference calls?
I am sure you are tired of hearing this, but I happen to love Chicago, and I think it’s a very livable city. I also had a celebrity run-in with Bob Saget there– good times.
Re: schools
I just spent a year and a half researching schools. We finally settled on a school that had the cultural diversity we wanted (well it was better than any of the other schools, anyway), a low student-teacher ratio and a good after-school program. I just passed a pretty hefty non-refundable deposit. Then I found out there is a Mandarin-English bilingual school opening in September, very close to my work. My girls were both adopted from China, so learning Mandarin is huge for us (and they’re not getting much from their once-a week classes). So, it looks like more researching for me.
Please- Can you email me about tube reglazing? How much? How long? How does it look?
What everyone needs is to *think* they’re selling their houses so they fix them up. Because when we sold our house, we did a boatload of fixing up, and we, too, wondered why in heck we hadn’t done it an age ago???
Chicago is a lovely city. Really. And I got away without getting a driver’s license until I was 24…
I will add that, if I could afford to live IN Chicago-I would move back in a heartbeat. Just not a suburban person…

Dead? I’m not dead. I’m just spending my time doing stuff like making oct0dogs for lunch. (Hint: please share the how-to with your readers). Omegamom is correct. In my next house, all pictures wil be hung within the first three months. I want to see before and after pics of the reglazed tile. I bet it looks fab.
Delurking to say……
If we cry and beg and plead will Figlet come back? Also, this means you must never leave us.
