I can’t believe how much quieter it is with M at school. Or how long 8:00 – 3:00 really is. I could do almost anything with that amount of time.
I am going to have to find some kind of organized activities for L, but so far she is pretty thrilled to be able to play with all the toys without M yelling at her or trying to convince her to play with something else.
I am glad I spent the summer with both girls at home, but it was a LONG three months.

In other news, M spent several hours this week writing poems for GOD. Apparently, she didn’t get the Mama is Not Down With Church memo. Either that or my mom took advantage of the 3 days M spent there last week to indoctrinate her.
Either way, the poems are funny. I don’t think either Mr. A or I ever talked to her about poem structure or rhyming poems, but she has been reading and rereading Where the Sidewalk Ends for the last month so maybe she picked something up.
This one is one of my favorites. The noooooo is supposed to rhyme with YOU, but mean no. It may only be funny when you can hear it read in M’s very sincere voice.
A Poem for God By M
God is the best.
He is better than you.
He does not care for thiefs.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!
God never gives up.
Just like you.

Not bad…don’t care for the subject matter much myself but she did well!
The first time my husband and I heard our daughter reciting the “our Father” we were both in the computer room and heard this weird eery voice praying….we were kind of spooked by that little voice until we found our daughter on her knees by the side of the bed….yeah…it’s been interesting since then (BTW, she claims to be a Christian and we are both Agnostics…although I have a strong athiestic leaning!LOL.) – I just never thought that my let her believe what she wants philosophy would have been tested this way!
That’s cool though…that she’s coming up w/ poems.
Excellent poetry!! It cracks me up. Obviously in three days your mom can work wonders!!! Maybe she should be a preacher!
R goes to a little preschool at a church, and she says her little food blessing (which is about as much as I can take) but at the end instead of saying Amen, she always says “Ahhhhh MAN” it’s really funny, and I always give a little chear inside when she does it!
That just made my day. I think I snorked Diet Coke all over the keyboard.
As a survivor of a Catholic school education, I have to say that I learned that Christ was crucified beside a thief. So I think he did care for thiefs. But, not to quibble, I do think M’s poetry is very good, despite the subject matter. Why not introduce her to ee cummings. My son, at an early age, learned from neighbor kids that Jesus was akin to Superman. Man, did I have to do a lot of talking and explaining then. He turned out okay.
“He is better than you”
This is how it starts. How could M resist such a STRONG biological drive?
Alas.
Wait, I thought God loved all sinners. I recall that we should pity thieves as Christians. anyway I think it is adorable that M is writing poetry to God.
Hopefully Kindergarten will distract her from her flirtation with ecclesiastical word craft.
Has she written a poem about how the Jews are going to hell?

I missed all of the exciting posts and comments recently about the beginning of kindergarten, but my Luke went to kindy at the same school last year and we had a great year. Granted, we don’t have all of the same issues going on that you write about (Luke being a white boy) but I was amazed by the lack of competition, cliques, etc.
