I was running on the treadmill when I saw the clip of Colin Powell talking about why he will be voting for Barack Obama this year. I had to stop running because I got so teary.
Also, it appears that after about 47 emails from me (and none in return from them), Bloglines has finally started carrying my most used feed again. Welcome back, bloglines exiles!
I have to get moving so we can get to Chinese school on time. Seriously, aren’t weekends supposed to be restful?

It was a brilliant endorsement.
Yay on bloglines for me too.
So well said.
Glad your posts are coming through Bloglines again. I was way behind.
Colin Powell is a real Republican, a rare thing these days. When my sister was in the Air Force (career officer, but retired a year before 9/11), she attended some briefings with him. She was horrified by what the Bush administration did to him and how they manipulated him into relinquishing his better judgment.
I didn’t know McCain had considered him as a running mate. Biggest mistake of his career-there would be a lot fewer Reps voting Dem if Powell were on the ticket. And there would be some military Dems (there are a few) voting Rep. ~lmc
I hadn’t gotten a chance to watch it yet. My son is so confused at the tears of joy running down my face!
I was impressed when I heard what he had to say, too. I gave up on Bloglines. You and about half the blogs I follow stopped updating. I’ve switched to Google Reader.
Well, it’s about time (for Powell). I switched to Google reader, too.
I didn’t see the endorsement, but I have to say that I love the new design. Very, very user-friendly. I’ve been missing the ability to continue on to the next or last blog entry. Woot!
Yay! I’m so glad you’re back! (On Bloglines, that is….)
The footage of his comments with journalists upon leaving MTP is also great:

I was just lamenting the same thing. My weekends, with two kids under 6 and a 19-year old in the middle of a suddenly diagnosed medical crisis, are non-fu**ing stop! Seriously, I run into Starbucks to get a quick cup of coffee and gaze enviously at the people inside who are leisurly reading the paper and who are actually SITTING DOWN to do so.
Yup I cried too. Then did a happy dance in the rain. Could this really be happening??
Why can’t more people talk such sense in this election?!
I saw it at the gym too and also got teary-eyed. They think I’m some nut now at my gym as I mostly go there to watch the talking heads on MSNBC and lately I have been laughing and crying a lot (or cursing, as quietl as I can) while doing the elliptical
Also, I saw “W” last night and with this one particular movie scene with Colin Powell fresh in my head, it was particularly moving hearing him this morning.
I have been walking on air since the endorsement. It has helped temper some of the more ugly diiscussions I’ve gotten into with people. Since I missed the Meet the Press episode, I watched the entire thing on the web. Like, 4 times. Actually, I watched the 7-minute clip twice, then the full MTP episode twice. DoctorDude and I are so charged up!
