Wow, it is amazing how nice it is to have Mr. A home for a few days (4.5 days off in a row, to be exact!)
We spent a lot of time just hanging out and relaxing. I had the freedom to run to the store alone when I wanted something (an amazing and revolutionary idea!). I met up with a couple of friends (new and old). Mr. A had some old friends from college & law school visit. We had no schedule to keep and no work that had to be completed.
After the insane amount of overtime Mr. A had been billing for the last month, it was really low key and nice. It was like a huge weight just lifted off all of us for a few days.
Poor Mr. A though. It just goes to show how little down time he generally has, as soon as he slowed down he got sick. He seems to have the nasty cold that knocked me out for 1.5 weeks.
I hope he starts feeling better soon, because if not, January is going to be a bummer of month for him. He is getting snipped on the 8th.
poor mr a fer sher.
2009 is coming in w/ a whimper.
The ol’ snip-snippety, eh? Whoa! That ought to be some major blog fodder. Don’t write anything negative about it, though, because someday I’m sending Mr. M through that door!
Wow, I just saw on an episode of “The Doctors”, (the new talk show) about a no needle or scalpel vasectomy. It sounds pretty amazing! Hope all goes well!
Your girls are beautiful! Happy New Year.
We went the snipping route in November. The no lifting/no swimming/not very helpful things gets tiring. For him and you. My husband would get frustrated to not be able to do things, do too much, and I think that prolonged the recovery. (which took about 4 weeks to feel normal)
My advice–buy him several athletic supporters.
And enjoy the vacation! If only going-away vacations felt as relaxing (at least with-kids)
It was great to meet you, even though I talked about 600% more than I normally do in social situations. I loved the area, too, and especially the food.
I’m sure you’ve thought this out carefully but I couldn’t help but post an opinion. My hubby had a vasectomy after we had our 2nd child. Our 2nd was just a baby at the time, and we thought we were done. Fast forward 3 years and we realized we had made a hasty decision. Vasectomy reversals are much more expensive and painful as the original procedure, as you probably know.
We are happily expecting our 3rd child. If I had the opportunity to speak to anyone about to have a vasectomy, I would recommend waiting until the youngest child is school-aged. If your youngest is still a baby or a toddler, it’s hard to be objective about whether or not you want another child (with the sleep deprivation and tantrums clouding your thinking).
Best of luck to you, whatever you decide.
My husband got snipped a few years ago, and it was the best decision we could have made. My twins are in first grade now, and I’m more sure than ever that we’re done, especially now that a wave of our friends are having babies! No thanks– I think you know when you’re done and when you’re not.
I too know the luxury of going to the store alone!
It’s such a rare treat!
Hope the snipping goes well!
Yeah… K wants to be snipped too, but I feel really sad about it. We may go ahead and have it done in 2009
. I wanted one more kid, I really did, but we cannot afford it, and we don’t have the energy to start it all over again…
Wohwuh
whoa, tmi??
by the way, why do Misses M and L get adjectives for their tags, and Mr. A is just, “Mr. A”?
It makes him sound so mysterious. until you get to the snipped part!
