After all that talking about houses, I don’t know why I am surprised that Mr. A and are almost definitely going to put our house up for sale in the near future. Mr. A has requested a week (from last saturday) to think about it, but I am pretty sure he is going to say we should go for it.
There are a lot of reasons why selling now is a good idea, but there are also a few downsides too. Not the least of which is we will probably end up living in an apartment for a while if we do manage to actually sell this place.
I am sure I will expand on this topic in the near future, but I need to get to bed and try to get some sleep before L continues her effort to force me into the loony bin wakes up crying.
Today, I was kind of a big old cheater on the food challenge. Now we are beginning to run out of things in earnest and I can see that this project is going to stop being fun in the very near future.
Day 13
Breakfast: The girls had eggs and toast. I bought a latte for myself and my mom at starbucks because we were driving to the dumb pottery barn outlet and I don’t have a travel mug since my old one broke.
Lunch: My mom bought L and me lunch at Wendy’s. She offered and paid, so I think that is technically allowed.
Snacks: L had a graham cracker, goldfish and raisins. My mom also bought her a cookie. And my mom brought a small bunch of grapes for her own snack, but I confiscated them and reallocated them to L because we are mostly out of fresh fruit. I did give my mom back her tupperware container though. Also we mooched pretzels off Patti at the park. Snack pickings are slim around these parts, we gotta take what we can get.
Dinner: Macaroni with beef tomato sauce and peas.

we’ve got some grapefruit here in case anyone develops scurvy.
On the whole gas/night screams thing, has the food challenge significantly altered your diet in such a way that it might be affecting L’s digestion or another aspect of her dietary health? Fiber? Vitamins? Minerals? Protein? I just wonder if there might be some correlation? Or an increase in a certain food eaten, etc?
Okay lady, go to the grocery store already!! Next thing we know we’ll see your booking picture on the evening news with the teaser “Midwest mom arrested for stealing grapes; says her babies were hungry”. Seriously, I couldn’t stop thinking about you yesterday when I was grocery shopping. If I didn’t live in Georgia I would have dropped off a bag or two of groceries for you! You’ve got some great drama going on here on the ol’ blog. I can’t wait for the next installment of “to move or not to move”. Remember the guy who called your agency about something he didn’t like on your blog….he’s probably freaking out about now over the whole grocery situation! Hope L had a better night.
We could not do this challenge at all. My girls live on fresh foods bought several times a week in small quantities to keep fresh. This works for us and we actually now only buy what we eat, no junk, etc. The thought of not having fresh fruit and veg for my girls gives me the NO WAY feeling.
I do commend you for giving it a huge effort. But with 2, 2.5 year olds there is no way it would work. Now, if I win the basketball pool the 100 is going to the food shelter, so there ya go!
Crackers are really easy to make if you have flour, water and a bit of butter or shortening in the house. So, that might be one snack option.
1 c. flour
1/2 t salt
2 T butter
1/4 cup water
Mix as you would for pie crust, roll out as thin or thick as you like, and bake at 400 F for 10 minutes. Break into crackers. Or, you can cut them into regular shapes before baking.
I think your experiment is great even if you stop. I’ve always been troubled by the “what would you do if you knew you could not fail?” saying, ’cause really the challenge is what will you try even though you know you might fail?
Trying hard is the best accomplishment.
Oh, I skimmed over the part where you were staging the house. I still think the coffee table books are a good investment though, regardless. But for knick-knacks, could you just borrow from someone like your mom or a friend?
