Ok, I know I have been quite the absentee blogger lately, but I have been working hard on the house.  I spent today taking the photos for my new website (we are selling for sale by owner), so I thought I may as well use them as blog fodder here too.

I am not quite comfortable putting the outside picture on this blog, so you will just have to humor me and imagine a standard Cape Cod with an addition tacked on the front.  The outside is not my house’s strongest asset, though it does sport some lovely landscaping right now.

I love this kitchen.  It is one of my favorite parts of my house.  The cabinets are original and I refinished them (painted) rather than buying new because they are so flipping sturdy and well-constructed.  I also put in the subway tile backsplash myself.

(Shh, I don’t actually drink Perrier.  But I do think the bottles are pretty!)

Here is a picture of the table that Mr. A infamously scratched up only 3 weeks after we bought it.  It refinished quite nicely.

It took me 4.5 years to find something to put on top of that TV cabinet.  Artwork by M and L.

The cleanest my bedroom has ever been.

Before you email me, Yes, I know you can see M’s name.  I am more concerned about her name not being googleable in connection with my blog, so I am OK with it.  An no, L doesn’t have name letters.  The company I bought M’s from seems to be out of business and I can’t find others that are the same size and font.  It is annoying.

Former playroom, now a guest room.  I love the color of yellow on these walls.

My screened porch.  It is like a little oasis out there since I added the curtains.

Oh, yeah.  This is where the magic happens.

  • Very pretty! *I*’d buy it, if we lived in the area and could afford it! ;-)

  • Lise

What a beautiful house. I hope it sells quickly for you.

Your house is so darn adorable, I’d definitely want to live there! (Alas, I’m on the West Coast and am stuck buying a hideous bank-owned home with turquoise–I kid you not–kitchen cabinets.) Good luck with the home sale!

  • Marie

I think you could have a future in interior design!

  • I love the screened porch, that thing is awesome. I’d buy the house just for that.
And I also love the girls bedspreads! And the kitchen light fixture over the sink.
    And the subway tile!
    Seriously, your house looks great.

  • Your house is so lovely. These photos are fantastic and I hope they help the house sell quickly.

I love your home! If I could, I would happily buy it in a second. It is not only adorable, but is so peaceful. Love it!

  • Oh, it’s lovely! I’m so jealous of the screened porch. I think we’d buy it if we were headed to Columbus. For now it’s just fixing up our old house, though.

I love you home! It’s so pretty. Although I dont know what a “Cape Cod” is!

    Good luck with the sale.

Beautiful!! You’ve done a *wonderful* job. I sure do wish I could buy it, but I’m nowhere near you. You should become a stager.

I am sending you good real estate vibes!!

It really is lovely, and it photographs so well. I have harbored a secret desire to move out to your neck of the woods–I’m not a stalker, really, I just like that area–but I don’t think it’s ever going to happen.

  • Oh My Goodness. Your house looks GORGEOUS.

Could you write a little bit about how you schedule time for all the projects you’ve been doing? It seems as if this has been on your agenda for a good long while now, and I’m fascinated (and a little intimidated) by your ability to do so many time-intensive projects. Especially given A’s busy work schedule.

  • A–the outside of your house is super cute–I love the addition on the front–it makes a very standard cape cod footprint much more interesting.

    B. I looked at the other house we talked about and yours is SO much better. You can tell that the bedrooms are tiny (unlike yours) and your location is a billion times better.

    C. the top of the tv armoire looks terrific. It makes a BIG difference–my eyes don’t rest there anymore–I just keep looking around, which is definitely the goal.

  • It looks awesome! And really, the outside of your house is beautiful.

Your house is lovely. Would you be willing to share roughly how much a house like that goes for in Ohio? I don’t mean your specific house, but even within a $50,000 range would be interesting. I’d love a house like that, but even today, in Seattle it would be at least $350,000.

I’m also curious how you get big projects done, and I would love for you to pick the paint colors for my house. The walls are lovely.

  • WOW, amazing! It looks awesome, I’d say better than ours!

    I ADORE the screened porch!!

OH, and is that painted wood paneling in the computer room? (is it the corner of the living room or another room?) Was it already painted over when you moved in? (I’m curious because of our own wood paneled room).

Anyway, WOW, you did a wonderful job, but we all knew you would ;-)

Good luck with the selling, email me the link to the site if you can/want.

  • Your house looks wonderful — especially love your paint colors. I know those things are cosmetic and so easy for a buyer to fix themselves, but actually it makes a huge difference (speaking as someone who has been to a LOT of open houses lately.) What color green is that in the girls’ room? It is very hard to find such a nice green that’s not too minty or mossy or olive or whatever!

  • I’d buy it in a second, but you’d have to accept Monopoly money. ;’} Looks perfect!

  • Julie

It looks lovely!! House prices are amazingly reasonable in your part of the world! Hope it sells quickly, it’s really pretty! Once it sells, where do you guys go?

Ha! I’m living in El Salvador for the year, and the house we’re renting came fully furnished. I’m living a bedroom that was inhabited by two little girls, and my bed sports the same pink bedspread that M and L have.

  • carosgram

    Love the screened porch!

  • Your home is lovely. Wishing you luck and hope it sells quickly.

  • christine

    now i have house envy.

    i love M’s name!

  • Looks lovely! And if I am ever able to declutter my house that much, I will take photos in case we ever sell it and just to show off because my house was only that clean prior to us moving our stuff into it!

  • The house looks beautiful. I love your paint color choices.

  • LH

Um, why are you selling this house?? jk. But it is beautiful and *finally* I know M’s name!I’ve been wondering for many years now…(M and my daughter are the same age, and seem so similar in so many ways.)

    Good luck with the sale!

  • Gorgeous! Perfect staging in my opinion, tasteful, clean and up-to-date. Best wishes to you guys!!

  • What a beautiful house!!!! : )

  • You’re house is so cute! Good luck selling it quickly.

  • Kendra

Goodness. I can’t imagine moving out of there! It looks wonderful!

  • Kendra

P.S. Did you use regular curtains for the screened porch or some kind of outdoor curtain? If they’re made for outdoor use, could you let me know where you found them? I think curtains would be a great addition to our porch, but it gets so WET all the time, that I’m always hesitant to add anything.
