be happy you have an offer! Our house has been on the market since Sept with no offers in sight. Pulling it off the market this weekend...perhaps to try again in spring.

I did the same thing in 2005. I came home with my daughter in July and realized I couldn't afford the cost or time of maintaining my 1932 home. I listed it by owner in November and sold it within a week. The buyer wanted possession within 3 weeks as she'd sold her house. I managed to buy a townhouse in the neighborhood I wanted, but it wasn't finished yet...plus I majorly downsized from 5 bedrooms to 2 so had a TON to get rid of. Thankfully one of my brother's friends was moving into his first apartments at the time, so he helped me move in exchange for some of the furniture I no longer wanted (he made out well). It was insane - but SO worth it! I miss my house, but the move was the best decision I've ever made!

I'm so glad that all's going well with the potential house sale. We've already moved, and yet, I'm nowhere near ready for Christmas. It must be something with 2009 because I feel like we're always more on top of Christmas than this year!
