New Series: Thank You Taxpayers Post 1- public schools

Tonight, I was reflecting on all the ways my fellow taxpayers have improved my life and the lives of my family and friends. Here I am, living my nice, upper middle class existence and at the same time, I am being subsidized by my fellow citizens, many of whom have far fewer economic resources than I.

In a time when it is trendy to complain about how much we pay in taxes–not to mention the accusations about all those pesky poor people soaking up government funds–let’s turn the tables around and look at the benefits I have acquired as a citizen of this great nation.

With this series, I would like to thank the government of the United States of America, the State of Ohio and my fellow tax payers for everything you do and have done for me, my family and my friends.

I can’t promise I will post every day, but I have a LOT to be thankful for, so this could go on for quite a while.

I attended public schools for grades K-12. I am glad to be a member of the educated citizenry!

Amen. This is going to be great. I am a product of public schools, as are my parents and my children. Other than clean water (because I live in Southern California and am menopausal so the true need for heat is outside my frame of reality) there is nothing more fundamental than access to a decent education.

The reverse of that is whenever I think about parents who send their kids to private school, “Thanks for paying taxes and not sending your kids to public school so I can still use your taxes for my kid.”

And boo-hoo, no one made you send them to private school – so no school vouchers for you1

Me too, I would like to thanks our fellow taxpayers. My parents send me to school with free tuition fee.Hope many students like me will benefit this kind of government project. Thanks for this site.
